In the days leading up to the U.S. Army All-America Game, USA TODAY High School Sports will be checking in with a number of players for their accounts of the events and activities in San Antonio. This entry is from Derrick Brown, Lanier (Buford, Ga.) defensive tackle. Brown is the No. 13 player in 2016 according to ESPN, is uncommitted and will make his announcement Feb. 3 on National Signing Day.
So far it’s been a lot of fun in San Antonio. Everyone’s practicing really hard and giving it their all, the competition has been great.
We don’t know a thing about what they have planned for us, they’re keeping it quiet and a secret. The gear bags we got were awesome. My favorite thing was probably this lime green shirt that we got, it’s nice! I’ve been hanging out with a lot of the linemen, especially Julian Rochester, my roommate down here.
As far as recruitment goes, there hasn’t been a change. I’m still gonna be making my decision on National Signing Day, Feb. 3. I still have my five schools of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State and Tennessee, and I’ve got three visits left, too. A couple guys are in my ear trying to recruit me, but this week won’t really impact my decision. I’ve got to do what’s best for me.
