The Asheville and Haywood County American Legion baseball teams have announced their tryout dates.

Haywood Post 47 will only hold one tryout April 30 at Lake Junaluska Elementary School (where Tuscola plays) at 1 p.m. Tryouts are open to players in Haywood as well as western counties in Western North Carolina. Players are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate or drivers license for the coaching staff to keep on file.

Asheville Post 70 will conduct a pair of tryouts next month.

The dates are May 1 (at 2 p.m.) and May 8 (at 4 p.m.), and both are scheduled for Roberson’s Holmes-Smith Field. Tryouts are open to high school players born after Jan. 1, 1997. There is no cost to try out.
