“It’s something I never imagined would ever happen when I got started,” he said.
The day ended for Assumption with a loss to rival Sacred Heart in the final, 25-17, 25-27, 25-20, after Assumption battled back from the brink of defeat in the second se to force a third set.
Sacred Heart is ranked No. 15 in the Super 25 and was swept at home by Assumption on Aug. 31.
“That’s the thing we preach: You got to be patient,” Kordes said. “You got to keep your composure. We lost it there a little bit. And that’s not saying anything against Sacred Heart. You don’t lose your composure for no reason.”
