High Point Christian Academy (High Point, N.C.) forward Edrice Adebayo has decided not to play in the Nike Hoop Summit on April 9, according to USA Basketball.

A news release from USA Basketball said Adebayo notified USA Basketball that he “will be unable to participate.”

“He decided not to do Hoop Summit because he didn’t want to miss so much school so close to the end of year,” his coach this season at High Point, Brandon Clifford, said. “Bam works hard in the classroom and wants to finish strong.

“He’s fine academically, but I think the thought of being gone three weeks in a row led him to think it would put himself in a hole at the end of the year. He truly wants to do well, even though he’s already qualified.”

Adebayo will participate in the March 30 McDonald’s All American Game and the April 15 Jordan Brand Classic.

Adebayo, a Kentucky signee who is ranked No. 4 overall in the ESPN 100, will be replaced by Lone Peak (Highland, Utah) guard Frank Jackson, a Duke signee.

Jackson, who is ranked No. 11 overall in the ESPN 100, finished the regular season averaging 27.8 points a game and ranks sixth on Utah’s all-time boys basketball scoring list with 2,024 points.

Jackson attended the USA Men’s Junior National Team minicamp in October.

Team USA will face the World Select Team at the Moda Center in Portland, Ore. The roster for the World Team will be announced later this month.
