
The Westchester County Center will host the Section 1 boys and girls semifinals and finals from Feb. 22-28.

One of the highlights of the year in local high school sports gets underway in earnest Friday when the Section 1 boys and girls basketball tournaments open play. They’ll begin with outbracket games Friday and continue through the final championship games at the County Center on Feb. 28
After the outbracket round is complete, teams will compete in the first round on Feb. 16-17 and the quarterfinals Feb. 19-20. The event will conclude during Championship Week at the County Center from Feb. 22-28 when five boys champions and four girls champions will be crowned.
Defending champion Mount Vernon earned the No. 1 seed in the boys Class AA draw. Tappan Zee (Class A), Briarcliff (Class B), Hamilton (Class C) and defending champ Clark Academy (Class D) earned the other top seeds in the boys tournament.
Three-time defending Class AA state champion Ossining is the No. 1 seed again on the girls side. Ursuline, which dropped down from Class AA this season, earned the No. 1 seed in Class A. Defending champ Irvington is No. 1 in Class B. Keio grabbed the top spot in Class C after the best regular season in program history.
