The Benton girls had to compete in two overtime periods before downing West Monroe 59-57 on Tuesday night in Benton.
Sophomore Emily Ward poured in 35 points in the win.
“Tonight was an exciting game,” Ward said. “I’m super proud of how our team never gave up. We fought hard until the final buzzer.”
Qua Chambers added 7 points, Claire Ambrose and Malorie Gill contributed 6 apiece and Dana Wainwright pitched in with 5 for the Lady Tigers.
Byrd 53, Fair Park 49: At Byrd, Taisheka Porschia scored 18 points and She’Lexis Daniels added 16 for the Lady Jackets. Deborah Ford scored 27 points for the Lady Indians to lead all scorers.
Huntington 45, Loyola 44: At Huntington, Da’Asia Dixon’s 16 points led the Lady Raiders, who also got 12 points from My’Kalah Johnson and 10 from Taylor Bell. Loyola was topped by Alex Williams with 16 points.
Homer 51, North Webster 11: At Springhill, LaDasha Casey’s 19 points led all scorers for the Lady Pelicans (6-1).
North Caddo 53, Southwood 50: Destiny Rice scored 23 points to lead all scorers as the Lady Rebels handed the Lady Cowboys their first loss. Jadah Martin added 18 points. Ah’Million Cosby scored 13 points for Southwood.
Bossier 40, Plain Dealing 28: At Plain Dealing, the Lady Bearkats broke open a tight game with a 16-2 third quarter advantage to get by the Lady Lions. Destiny Thomas’ 19 points and 13 boards led the way. Navia Johnson added 10 rebounds.
Natchitoches Central 58, Evangel 44: The Lady Eagles got 19 points from Breonna Frierson and 14 from Tiara Young but it wasn’t enough. The Lady Chiefs countered with 27 from Kierra Brimzy and 18 from Jada Duncantell.
Haughton 62, Northwood 56: At Northwood, behind 22 points from Mayghan Myers and 16 from Champagne Dennis the Lady Bucs got the win. Anna Armstrong topped the Lady Falcons with 15 points.
BTW 51, Parkway 48: At BTW, Latreveon Jones scored 19 points and Treshawn Hill 10 to lead the Lions. The Panthers were led by Terrace Marshall with 15 points.
Northwood 48, Haughton 27: At Haughton, Keith English scored 22 points and JaMichael Bryant added 14 for the Falcons.
Southwood 58, North Caddo 56: Johnny Hines and S.D. Ellis scored 11 points apiece and Roderick Stinson added 10 for the Cowboys. Cherrod Hill and Detaveus Easter pumped in 14 apiece for the Rebels.
