It’s difficult to imagine the McDonogh (Md.) Eagles’ win streak coming to an end any time soon. Chris Robinson’s dynasty has now won an unthinkable 137 games in a row, and that keeps the Maryland private school powerhouse atop the Super 25 girls lacrosse rankings again this week.
But there is, however, some shuffling as some key decisions were produced by some Super 25 matchups last week. Bishop Ireton (Va.), a staple in the Super 25, moved up to No. 7 by way of a 12-9 win over previous No. 7 Agnes Irwin (Penn.), a team that also fell in the past week to the Academy of the Holy Cross out of Maryland, now No. 8 in the rankings. Those two results created some re-ordering in the top ten.
Deeper down, an upset — Mount Hebron (Md.) knocking off previously undefeated Manchester Valley (Md.) 7-6 — ended a 27-game winning streak and thrust the Vikings into the rankings just above the Mavericks at No. 20 and bumped other teams up as well. Mount Hebron gets a shot at No. 1 McDonogh this week and will again look to play spoiler by ending the Eagles’ impressive win streak.

Also new to the Super 25 rankings this week, Mount de Sales Academy of the IAAM ‘A’ Conference in Maryland knocked off previous No. 24 Notre Dame Prep (Md.) 13-9 and enters the Super 25 at the last slot.
This weekend’s Spring Fling event, hosted by No. 3 St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) will provide several great Super 25 matchups, including a showdown between the host Saints and No. 2 Good Counsel (Md.), as well as a meeting between No. 8 Holy Cross (Md.) and No. 19 Milton (Ga.)
