Braves' multi-sport standout honored at The Courier-Journal Kentuckiana Sports Awards Banquet presented by Norton Sports Health
Borden’s multi-sport standout Caleb Hart was named the recipient of the Courage Award on Tuesday at The Courier-Journal Kentuckiana Sports Awards Banquet presented by Norton Sports Health.
Hart was born with Poland’s Syndrome, a rare birth defect characterized by the absence or
underdevelopment of the pectoral muscle on one side of the body, resulting in abnormalities that can affect the chest, shoulder, arm and hand. His right hand is “about half the size of his (left),” according to his father, Larry. Nevertheless, Hart is a noted guard and pitcher on Borden’s basketball and baseball teams, respectively.
A senior this past season, Hart is a three-time all-conference team member in basketball, with a conference player of the year honor coming in his junior season. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged
16.8 points per game as a senior and hopes to play at the next level. He also took home first-team Courier-Journal Southern Indiana All-Area Baseball Team honors this season as a pitcher and outfielder. Growing up, Hart also played football, soccer, golf and ran track in addition to basketball and baseball.
