Jack Rusk had a career-high 17 points to lift the Marlboro High School boys basketball team in a 53-44 win over visiting New Paltz on Friday.

Jaiden Allen and Tyler Jollie both had eight points, while Xavier Oliver contributed with 16 rebounds.

Axel Rodriguez and Matt Kanan both notched 15 points for New Paltz.

“It was a hard-fought game,” said Marlboro coach Mike Koehler. “We were down most of it. But we took the lead by the end of the third (quarter).

“We took a 5-point lead in the fourth, and (New Paltz) came back and scored five straight points. So we could never get much separation. But we got back in it and with 3 or 4 seconds on the shot clock, Jaden Allen sunk a 25-foot 3-pointer with about 50 seconds to go (in regulation play). That kind of sealed it for us.”

Marlboro (9-1) hosts Rondout Valley at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Millbrook 65, Pine Plains 40 — Humberto Cabrera finished with 24 points for the visiting Blazers.

Alfredo Sosa put away 10 points for Millbrook.

Jacob Lydon led the way for the Bombers with 12 points.

“Basically it came down to us outscoring (Pine Plains) 26-2 in the (third) quarter,” said Millbrook coach Bill Kyle. “We went with a full-court press, which really got it going.”

Millbrook (3-5) hosts Dover at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Red Hook 67, Rondout Valley 40 — Dennis Hare scored 26 points for the visiting Raiders, with seven rebounds and three assists.

Teammate Beau Smith added 17 points while Nick Morrissey scored a career-high 10 points and added five rebounds.

Red Hook (5-3) visits Highland on Tuesday.

Rhinebeck 67, John A. Coleman Catholic 57 — Jack Spencer scored 21 points with 10 rebounds to lead the visiting Hawks. Teammates Hunter Brandt (20 points, four 3-point field goals) and Rob Veith (14 points, six rebounds) chipped in.

“It was a heated game,” said Rhinebeck coach David Aierstok. We got up 12 early on and to their credit they fought back, made it a one-point game at the half. One of their guys fouled out and we went from there. It was a good game, back-and-forth.”

Rhinebeck (7-2) visits Webutuck Tuesday.

Franklin D. Roosevelt 74, Highland 70 — Nowah Rosado led the visiting Presidents with 24 points. Teammate Trevor Monroe added 23 while D’Andre Orr scored 12.

Nick Palmatier led the Huskies with 22 points. Mike Doxey contributed 17.

Tim Reilly added 15 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while Zaahir Woody contributed 11 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Matt Seidner added 11 points and eight rebounds.

James Anozie scored 20 points for the Warriors. Dean Rotger chipped in with 13.
