Kenyi Bryant hit 4 of 6 3-point tries and scored 20 points to lead the Doss High School boys basketball team to a 51-39 victory over Pleasure Ridge Park on Tuesday in the Republic Bank Louisville Invitational Tournament at Valley.
“He’s just a competitor,” coach Tony Williams said. “Funny thing is that when something bad goes on before the game with him, he comes out and plays like a real player. It’s almost like you have to make him mad before the game.”
Kelshawn Knight-Goff added 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals for Doss (13-3), which will face the winner of Wednesday’s Male-Kentucky Country Day game in Friday’s 4 p.m. quarterfinal.
Chris Drabo had 12 points and six rebounds to lead PRP (9-6). Hunter Stevenson pitched in 10 points.
Leading 20-14 at halftime, Doss pulled away late in the third quarter. Bryant hit a pair of 3-pointers during a 10-1 run that gave the Dragons a 32-17 lead with 1:30 left. Nick Anderson banked in a halfcourt shot at the buzzer to make it 35-21 entering the fourth.
Doss continued to be without junior guard Cam Maddox (9.2 ppg), who is out 3-6 weeks with a broken hand.
