Garrett Brown has adjusted nicely to baseball at the professional level.
Brown is batting .338 with 11 RBIs through 17 games for the rookie league Bristol (Va.) Pirates. The 2011 Erwin graduate hit his first professional home run in Saturday’s 6-5 home win over Danville (Va.).

However, Bristol (10-12) stormed back with five runs in the bottom half of the fourth with Garrett Brown’s three-run homer with two outs putting the Pirates ahead to stay.
“That was huge,” Jess said. “He’s been swinging a hot bat and it was great to see him get ahold of one and put it over the right-field fence.”
