In Bruce Brown’s first two seasons at Vermont Academy (Saxtons River, Vt.) the team lost in the quarterfinals and then the championship game.

For his senior year, he had one goal — to not leave for the University of Miami without a title.

Brown now has two titles — New England England Preparatory School Athletic Council champion and Jordan Brand Classic All-American.

The former came last month when Brown scored 35 points in a 69-61 win against Cushing Academy. The latter came when he received a banner for his school as part of the Jordan Brand Classic Senior Night presented by American Family Insurance.

Brown, a 6-4 shooting guard ranked No. 31 by ESPN, will take part in the April 15 game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

“All he talks about is the team stuff,” coach Alex Popp told MassLive.com. “No. 1 for him was winning the championship here. He’s a winner. He values winning above all.”

Brown will be joined in New York by Tyrique Jones, who was selected for the regional game that is part of the Jordan Brand Classic festivities.

“It’s an honor to get to play in the Jordan Brand Classic,” Brown told MassLive.com. “I’m looking forward to competing.”
