MT. JULIET The Beech High baseball team made it easier on itself to navigate through the District 9-AAA Tournament thanks to a quality start from senior pitcher Dalton Hall.

Hall pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout and took advantage of the Bucs’ four-run outburst in the second inning en route to a 4-0 victory on Friday evening at Mt. Juliet High School.

“I felt great out there,” Hall said. “It gives us a good chance to win some more games.”

Beech (21-12) scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning, with a run-scoring double from senior Kody Timmons preceding junior Chase Waller’s sacrifice fly and junior Michael Hayes’ run-scoring single. Senior Jacob Jenkins added a sacrifice fly for the Buccaneers’ fourth run.

“I think we’re all starting to click, and we’re going through the process really well and starting to win some games,” Hall said.

Hall did not allow a hit over the first four innings before Lebanon senior Brady Estes singled up the middle to begin the fifth inning.

Hall needed only 76 pitches in a game that concluded in 88 minutes.

“He just came out and did what we expected him to do,” Beech head coach Jimmy Neal said. “He fielded his position well too.”

Lebanon (20-13) had back-to-back singles in the seventh inning, but the Buccaneers turned a fortunate bounce off the first-base dugout wall into a double play to cut down a run at the plate and end the game.

Beech advanced to Saturday’s winners’ bracket final to face either Mt. Juliet or Portland.
