California is home to the latest disturbing incident of a high school coach who stands accused of engaging in wildly inappropriate behavior with an underaged student.
As reported by the Orange County Register, Huntington Beach High School assistant girls’ volleyball coach Troy Crutchfield was arrested on suspicion of sending lewd videos of himself to an underaged girl online. It is unclear whether Crutchfield knew his alleged victim from his role with Huntington Beach or one of his other volunteer volleyball coaching positions. Crutchfield taught private volleyball lessons and also provided statistical and video analysis for the Cal State Long Beach men’s volleyball squad.
Crutchfield was stripped of all his previous roles and responsibilities in the immediate aftermath of the allegations against him.
For their part, Orange County detectives claim they have no reason to believe that Crutchfield ever met his intended victim in the process of his work with Huntington Beach High School.
The coach is currently being held on $100,000 bail, in part because authorities believe the 26-year-old may have had other underaged victims.
