Calvary managed to hang with Zachary into the second half of the Friday’s non-district contest, but ended up falling 63-33 in a slugfest.
Cavs’ quarterback Cade Hart hit Fred Davis for big scores covering 63 and 69 yards to pace the first half. Kordavion Washington added a 52-yard touchdown run in big strikes for coach John Bachman Sr.
Zachary climbed to 3-1 on the season, while the Cavs fell back even to 2-2.
Haynesville 40, Arcadia 12: At Arcadia, the Tors remain undefeated at 3-0 thanks to some big scoring opportunities. Quarterback Trent Franklin scored on runs of 1 and 36 yards, while Treyon Hunter added a 35-yard scoring run. Jerious Bittle scored from 40 and 67 yards away. Adrion Hardwell scored the final Tors TD to finish off the Hornets (2-2). Bittle finished with 106 yards on the night.
Logansport 40, Basile 6: At Logansport, Debell Crawford scored four touchdowns to set the pace for the Tigers (4-0), who remained undefeated. John Stephens and Braylen Wilson each added a score for coach Kevin Magee’s club. Basile fell to 1-3.
Plain Dealing 28, Homer 14: At Plain Dealing, Shavolyea McKinney scored on runs of 4 and 8 yards to lead the Lions (3-1) to the win. Derreon Washington scored on a 40-yard reception from Matt Sullivan, while Keldrick Carper added a TD on a 60-yard scamper. Homer remains winless at 0-4.
Cedar Creek 38, Lincoln Prep 0: The Cougars (2-2) picked up a key District 1-1A win at home against the Kittens (1-3).
Bastrop 47, Mansfield 21: At Mansfield, the Rams (2-1) had too much offense for the Wolverines (1-3), who couldn’t pick up their second win of the season. Ouachita 41, North Webster 13: At Monroe, the Knights (1-3) continue to find the winning tough with a strong 2016 schedule.
Ruston 49, Jonesboro-Hodge 7: At Ruston, the Bearcats (3-1) exploded for 21 second-quarter points as Ruston running back Jesse Sawyer rushed for five touchdowns to the lead the Bearcats to a win against the Tigers (1-3) at James Field.
Many 14, Union Parish 12: At Many, the Tigers had an offensive letdown from last week’s game with North DeSoto but still remained undefeated at 4-0. The Farmers stayed winless at 0-4.
Ouachita Christian 56, Lakeside 6: At Monroe, OCS (4-0) had little trouble dispatching winless Lakeside (0-4).
Madison 62, Lakeview 0 (3-0), At Tallulah, Madison (4-0) rolled to an easy offensive night to remain undefeated on the season. Lakeview fell to 1-3 with the loss.
Red River 32, Montgomery 8: At Montgomery, the Bulldogs moved to 3-1 on the season after rolling over the Tigers (0-4).)
D’Arbonne Woods 48, Ringgold 8: At Farmerville, this District 1-1A contest went to D’Arbonne Woods (2-2) in easy fashion. Ringgold fell to 2-2.
