For a team that hadn’t been ranked since a loss in the first week of the season, last year’s 4A state champion Cascade (6-4) came back to win a share of the Oregon West Conference championship and road games in the first two rounds of the state playoffs as the No. 15 seed.

Cottage Grove quarterback Blake Sentman was 15 of 32 passing for 244 yards and five touchdowns, and Jacob Woods caught five passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns.

Cascade running back Shane Schnepp rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.

Cottage Grove came out firing and led 13-0, but Cascade quarterback Quinn Legner found a wide-open Michael Biddington streaking down the middle of the field for a 43-yard touchdown pass for the Cougars to cut the deficit to 13-7.

In the third quarter Schnepp and Isiah Roniger ran for touchdowns of 18 and 14 yards, but the Cougars couldn’t overcome Cottage Grove’s passing attack.
