After Florida High rallied for five runs to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth, Catholic responded with seven runs in the seventh for a 12-7 win.

Catholic (13-0, 5-0 in district play) locked up the No. 1 seed for the District 1-3A tournament, which begins April 18 at North Bay Haven.

Donovan Whibbs tripled to lead off the seventh-inning surge for Catholic, and was followed up by an RBI single from Carl Gindl.

Mattew Estrada and Donovan Benoit then each reached base, as Gindl scored.

With two outs, A.J. Yates singled to drive in two runs and ultimately put the game out of reach for Florida Hig.

Gulf Breeze bounced back from Tuesday’s loss at Choctaw with a 7-4 win over Rutherford on Wednesday night.

Brandon Schrepf earned the win without surrendering a hit in two innings of work.

Schrepf also connected for a clutch double while Leland Rheames went 2-for-3.

Gulf Breeze hosts Washington High on Tuesday.
