Cherokee has formally begun the search for a new boys basketball coach.

Applications may be submitted online through the Cherokee Central Schools website (http://www.ccs-nc.org/). A direct link to the school system’s job openings is here.

Former Braves coach Willis Tullos did not have his contract renewed following a 25-4 sectional championship season. He had been Cherokee’s coach since 2012.

The Braves set a NCHSAA record for 3-pointers (330) last winter and should again be one of the Big Smoky Mountain Conference’s top boys for the 2016-17 season. Former All-BSMC forward Justus Day is expected back, as is former All-BSMC honorable mention forward Tye Mintz.
