A familiar name is atop the Big Smoky Mountain Conference standings in girls basketball.

Cherokee got 19 points from Lele Lossiah and 12 more from Pooh King in Tuesday’s 57-44 win over visiting Swain County.

Timiyah Brown added nine points and Shelby Wolfe (seven) snared a team-high 10 rebounds. The Braves (11-3, 6-0) are five-time defending 1-A sectional champions and the only team without a loss in the BSMC this winter.

For the season, King (15.9 points per game) and Tori Teesateskie (10.4 ppg.) lead Cherokee in scoring.

The next game for the Braves is Friday at Blue Ridge. They are sixth in the most recent NCPreps poll for NCHSAA 1-A girls.
