FORT MYERS, Fla. — Despite having the No. 3 senior prospect in the nation, Pace Academy (Atlanta) dropped its first two games at the City of Palms Classic without balance to support Duke-bound Wendell Carter.
The 6-10 Carter had 15 points and 12 rebounds in a 53-44 loss Monday to No. 15 Norcross (Ga.) after having 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 76-42 loss Saturday to Memphis East, which had been ranked No. 11 before falling out of the Super 25 last week. Carter played more than 30 minutes against each team.
“He does a good job,” Pace coach Demetrius Smith of Carter not getting frustrated by double- and triple-teams. “He tries to keep his poise, tries to stay within our game plan.”
