HENDERSONVILLE – West Henderson junior Tyson Hichman is a wanted young man.
Hichman visited Old Dominion last weekend on an unofficial basis, and the Falcons striker came away from Norfolk (Va.) with a scholarship offer.
Old Dominion was ranked as high as ninth in the country last fall.
Hichman also received a scholarship offer from UNC Greensboro last week.
“(Recruiting) is really exciting and humbling for me at the same time,” Hichman said.
“Not everyone gets the opportunities that I am receiving and I’m grateful. A good amount of schools are interested right now. I’m just going to go through the summer and try and narrow my search.”
Hichman was named the 2015 Co-Western North Carolina Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 45 goals and dishing out 16 assists. He received all-region and 3-A all-state recognition from the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association. Hichman was a first-team selection as a forward on the Citizen-Times All-WNC team, but could play midfielder in college.
Hichman plays his club ball for the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy’s 98 Premier team out of Greenville, S.C.
