So, here’s something you don’t see every day: Colorado Springs Liberty High crowned Tyrannosaurus Rex as the school’s Homecoming Queen. How any school that’s most popular student is a bipedal carnivore whose massive jaw is capable of crushing a human skeleton in a single bite could lose its Homecoming football by 27 points this past weekend is beyond me.
Of course, Liberty doesn’t have an actual T-Rex roaming the halls, attending classes and snacking on animal carcasses in the cafeteria. This dinosaur was actually senior Sarah McDonald dressed as T-Rex for the school’s Spirit Week. We’ll let her explain how she became Homecoming Queen in a costume in a description she posted to EllenTube on Sunday.
“Hi! My name is Sarah and I just had my senior year homecoming. I wore this fantastic costume to our assembly and when my boyfriend and I were announced everyone just went crazy and it was so funny. i wore it to the game that night and we ended up winning King and queen. and got some pretty sweet photos from that too. Overall just an amazing and hilarious experience.”
Unfortunately, the costume — complete with a Homecoming Queen sash and tutu — didn’t scare Monument (Colo.) Palmer Ridge, which handed Liberty a 47-20 defeat in Colorado Springs this past Friday. But T-Rex did help Liberty’s seniors win their the Powder Puff game.
Not to mention the fact McDonald now has a story that’ll never go extinct. Clever girl.
