This is what wire-to-wire domination looks like.
The Croswell-Lexington Pioneers girls basketball team took their fourth consecutive Blue Water Area Conference title by storm. They’ve put together a 13-0 record to lock up the conference title with one game to go, against Capac on Friday.
Not only did they go unbeaten, but the Pioneers 51-42 win over Imlay City on Tuesday was their only conference win that wasn’t a double-digit margin.
Yes, this team has been that good this season.
“This year we had so many players that can be a star,” Pioneers guard Desiree Lerma said. “We are hard to plan for since we have so many good players.”
Everyone in the Cros-Lex gym knows that there are more goals on the radar, especially winning its sixth-straight district title. The Pioneers — who host the Class B district round — will face the winner of Yale vs. Richmond in the semifinals. Even though the Pioneers had two comfortable wins against the Bulldogs and Blue Devils, they know better than to start looking too far into the tournament.
“Everybody is out for blood,” Lerma said. “Everybody will be bringing their A-game.”
