Earnest Brown IV spends almost as much time in the offensive backfield as he does on the defensive side of the ball.
As a junior at Ryan (Denton, Texas), Brown had 54 tackles — a whopping 21 went for loss, including nine sacks. He has continued that strong level of play this season and was invited to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl early last month.
Monday, his selection became official when he received his honorary jersey during the Selection Tour presented by American Family Insurance. Brown was honored in front of family, friends and teammates at his school.
The Army Bowl is Jan. 7 in San Antonio.

A Northwestern commit, the 6-5, 233-pound Brown is ranked as the No. 15 strong-side defensive end in the 247Sports Composite.
Before he gets to San Antonio, though, Brown still had a state title to pursue. After going 13-1 last season, Ryan dropped to 5A in the summer reclassification. The Raiders are 11-0 and face Richland (North Richland Hills, Texas) on Friday. Ryan has not allowed more than 14 points in its last seven games.
