DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.) quarterback Beau English planned to commit to one of the armed forces academies to continue his education and his football career. Army, Navy and Air Force were his finalists.
So what better way to do it than the very cool move to announce his choice on the Fourth of July?
English selected Air Force to follow the family’s history: His father Donny played football at Air Force.
Beau English has been a strong and very public proponent of the quality of football played in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, Virginia) and some thought that would bode well for the Naval Academy, based in Annapolis, Md.
Before he gets to Colorado Springs, English has one more season with the national powerhouse Stags, who are coming off a 12-1 season and a No. 12 ranking in the final Super 25. DeMatha won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship in 2015.
English might not be the highest-ranked quarterback on the board, but give him credit for his desire to follow in his father’s footsteps and serve his country.
