Clemson may have come up short against Alabama in its quest for a national title, but Deshaun Watson made good on a promise he made to his Twitter followers in high school.

When still only a sophomore at Gainesville (Ga.) High, the all-everything quarterback made a remarkably bold prediction of his football future in February 2012.

“If I get a chance to play in a national championship game,” he said in the tweet, “Imma go ham.” And go ham he did, completing 30 of his 47 pass attempts for 405 yards and four touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 73 yards in the 45-40 loss to Alabama.

Of course, by the time Watson was a prep sophomore, he was already compiling 4,180 yards of offense and 57 touchdowns, so maybe we should’ve believed him back then.
