Both of Mustangs' losses this year to Madisonville-North Hopkins

Despite a second loss this season to Madisonville-North Hopkins, the McCracken County High School softball team kept the No. 1 spot in the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association’s Top 25 released Monday night.

McCracken County (29-2) dropped a 4-3 decision to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Saturday in the Best of the West event in Bowling Green, Ky. The Mustangs also lost to the Maroons 9-8 on March 22.

McCracken County received nine of 17 first-place votes in the poll. No. 2 Madisonville-North Hopkins (26-3) received seven first-place votes, and No. 3 Scott County (26-2) received one. Both of Scott County’s losses this season were to McCracken County.

No. 4 Bullitt East, No. 6 Male, No. 7 Ballard and No. 10 Butler represent the Louisville area in the top 10.
