Elaina DeRose had a two-day score of 170 to help the DeWitt girls golf team complete its season by taking fifth at the Division 2 state golf finals.
The Panthers finished with a score of 736 at Grand Valley State’s The Meadows.
DeRose was the top scorer among Lansing area golfers at the state finals, finishing a stroke ahead of St. Johns’ Abby Murray and two in front of Okemos’ Lauren Kim.
Murray helped St. Johns tie for 11th with a score of 779, while Mason finished 16th with a total of 805.
Mason was paced by Claudia Vondra, who had a two-day total of 176.
Midland Dow had the top two individual finishers while winning the state title with a score of 645. Dow finished 48 strokes ahead of runner-up Birmingham Seaholm.
In Division 3 competition at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek, Charlotte’s Lizzy Fisher carded a 191 and Williamston freshman Kenzie Lewis had a two-day score of 216.
