It was a good weekend for the Dickson County Cougar soccer team, who used this past weekend in Jackson as a chance to bond with one another.
The opportunity seemed to pay off, the Lady Cougars came home with third place honors out of the twelve teams that participated.
“It’s great for team bonding,” said Dickson County coach Stefan Logan.
“Friday night, we got back to the hotel and were sitting in the lobby. They pulled out their phones and started watching game film. They were talking about it and looking at different things.”
Dickson County got off to a rough start, losing to Munford 3-2 Friday night. Munford jumped out to a 2-0 lead early and were able to hold on despite a strong second-half charge from the Lady Cougars.
“We played a whole lot better in the second half,” said Logan.
“If we would’ve played the first half like we did the second, we would’ve came out with the W.”
Dickson County was able to bounce back Saturday morning and afternoon. The Lady Cougar goals were flying in, as they scored seven on the day and only conceded two. They were able to defeat Chester County 4-2 and Madison Academy Magnet 3-0. The two wins were good enough for Dickson County to capture the bronze.
“We competed with these teams,” said Logan.
“It’s a a huge moral boost in getting them motivated and fired up. They really loved it.”
