STUARTS DRAFT – Despite placing four players in double figures, Stuarts Draft came up short against East Rockingham Thursday night, falling 64-58 in Shenandoah District girls basketball.
The Cougars trailed by 13 at halftime, but worked to cut the deficit to just two in the second half. However, Draft couldn’t get closer than that, losing its first game of the season to fall to 5-1.
Deborah Black led the way with 17 points, while Danielle Brenneman finished with 14 points for Draft. Both Black and Brenneman also had five rebounds each. Rachel Sauder had 14 points and Monique Ayres had 11 in the loss.
Draft returns to action Tuesday at home against Stonewall Jackson.
The Cougars won the jayvee game, beating East Rock 56-37. McKinley Fitzgerald had 16 points in the win, while Lyndsay Harris finished with 15 and Madelynn Armentrout had 10 points for the Cougars.
