Eastern High School is in the process of hiring a new football coach after Shaun Davis stepped down last month.
Davis posted a 12-22 record over three seasons, including a 5-7 mark in 2016. The Eagles beat North Hardin 41-7 for their first playoff victory since 2012 before falling to Trinity 49-0 in the second round of the Class 6-A playoffs.
Eastern athletic director Matt Girardin said Davis plans to retire at the end of the current school year. Davis has been on the coaching staff at Eastern since 1989.
Girardin said Eastern will interview candidates after Christmas break and hopes to have a new coach in place by mid-January.
“We have a very solid group of candidates with a lot of past experience and pass success in building programs and successful cultures on the field and in the classroom,” Girardin said.
