Eleven Midstate players were named to the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Tennessee Baseball Team.
Three of those 11 were named to the first team, including Forrest infielder Alex Brewer, Summertown outfielder Bryce Giles and Spring Hill pitcher Gage Gillian.
Brewer, a Vanderbilt signee, was the Class A Mr. Baseball winner. He batted .405 (.762 slugging) with 33 RBIs and 18 extra-base hits on the year, helping lead the District 9-A and Region 5-A champion Rockets to a second consecutive state tournament appearance.
Giles batted .475 and scored 61 runs to help lead Summertown to the Class A state tourney. Gillian, a rising senior righty, went 8-1 with one save while posting a 1.20 ERA with 120 strikeouts in 63⅔ innings, helping lead the Region 6-AA champion Raiders to a 29-8 record and the team’s sixth state tournament appearance in the last seven years.

Midstaters on the second team include Summit graduate Wil Dalton (outfielder) and rising sophomore Chris McElvain (pitcher); Siegel graduate Jacob Key (pitcher) and rising junior Andrew Benefield (infielder); CPA rising senior David Bates (pitcher); Pope John Paul II rising senior Ben Brooks (infielder); Hickman County rising senior Cooper Mays (infielder); and Columbia graduate Scott Lentz (outfielder).
The Player of the Year was University School of Jackson’s Ryan Rolison (pitcher). The Coach of The Year was Christian Brothers’ Buster Kelso.
