This probably doesn’t happen all that often, at least at the same time.
Michael Porter Jr., ranked No. 3 overall in the ESPN 60, cut Duke, Kentucky and Kansas at one time when he announced his top five on his Instagram account Monday night.
The five that made the cut: Oklahoma, Missouri, Virginia, Indiana and Washington.
Many expect Porter to land at Washington, where his father recently took a job as an assistant coach. Huskies coach Lorenzo Romar is his godfather and his younger brother, Jontay, is a Huskies commit.
Porter told USA TODAY High School Sports after his father took the job that it wasn’t a “lock” that he would follow him to Washington.
“I’m definitely still looking at some schools very seriously and my dad told me he wants me to do what’s best for me,” Porter wrote in his monthly blog.
Porter led Father Tolton (Columbia, Mo.) but will be attending high school in the Seattle area with his father’s move. He has not determined which school that will be at this point.
