Fairport (N.Y.) moved seven spots to join the top 10 and Nauset (Eastham, Mass.) leaped into the rankings in this week’s USA TODAY Sports/National Soccer Coaches Association of America Super 25 for boys soccer.
Fairport (16-1-1), which had been No. 14, is No. 7 this week. Fairport plays in the Section V Class AA championship game Tuesday. The Red Raiders were the Section V runners-up last season and won the title in 2013 and ’14.
Nauset (18-0) completed its second consecutive regular season with a 3-0 victory against Barnstable on Monday. More amazingly, Nauset outscored its opponents 95-0 this season.
Nauset received voted last week but was not in the Super 25.
The top four spots remained the same led by St. Ignatius (Cleveland), followed by Constega (Berwyn, Pa.), Morton (Cicero, Ill.) and Stillwater Regional (Stillwater, Minn.). Boulder (Colo.) moved up one spot to round out the Top 5.
Other big movers in the rankings: St. Charles Prep (Columbus) moved from No. 17 to No. 12 and Greenwich jumped from No. 24 to No. 16.
Joining Nauset among the newcomers: No. 21 Olathe East (Olathe, Kan.), No. 24 St. Christopher’s School (Richmond, Va.) and No. 25 West Chester (Pa.) Henderson.
