2016 WRESTLING COACH OF THE YEAR

Pat Simpson, Father Ryan

Why chosen: Simpson helped lead seven Father Ryan wrestlers to individual Division II state titles for the second straight year, which helped the Irish take home the team championship. He also helped the Irish win their eighth state duals title with a 36-22 win over Baylor.

Quote: “A lot of people think this may be one of the best teams I’ve ever had. They obviously proved it over the course of the season. It was as tight a team as I’ve coached. Everyone got along, loved each other and picked on each other. It was just special group and they put in the time.”
