Several Rockland County municipalities will take their shot against Super Bowl champions, a Harlem Globetrotters alum, plus more in a celebrity basketball game being held Sunday afternoon at Fieldstone Secondary School.

The non-profit game will raise funds and awareness for the Wings For Warriors organization, whose mission is to “provide necessary tools, insights and resources for wounded veterans as they go through the recovery process and transition into new realities.” The New York City Joint Color Guard will be on hand to perform a ceremony for North Rockland alum Manny Lopez, a former Army corporal who was killed in Iraq on Apr. 12, 2005.

Members of the celebrity team will include New York Giants Super Bowl champs Odessa Turner and Stephen Baker, two-time Super Bowl champions Eric Dorsey and Lee Rouson, New England Patriots Super Bowl champ Shawn Mayer, and former Harlem Globetrotter Derek “The Wizz” Murphy. Journal News sports reporter Mike Zacchio, a North Rockland High School alum, will also suit up for the celebrity team.

American Idol Season 10 semifinalist Robbie Rosen will sing the national anthem, as well as during halftime and postgame performances.

The celebrity all-star team will take on the Rockland County Sheriffs Department, Village of Haverstraw Volunteer Firefighters, and Haverstraw Police Department.

Doors for the event will open at noon, with a projected tip-off time scheduled for approximately 1:30 p.m. Tickets will cost $20 for everyone 13 or older, and $10 for anyone 12 or younger. Fans can snag autographs from players after the game.
