A Florida football coach was among 18 men arrested in an extensive undercover child sex sting the Polk County Sheriff’s Department is calling “Operation April’s Fools.”
Central Florida Christian Academy volunteer assistant football coach Robert Michael Gordon, 20, is charged with soliciting who he believed to be a 14-year-old girl online, according to the Orlando Sentinel and multiple reports in Florida.
The group of men also included a Walt Disney World security guard and a married Florida Hospital technician who told his wife he was headed to 7-Eleven. Many of them possessed condoms, candy and drugs when they they were arrested, reports said.
“These freaks and these deviants are looking for our children every day online,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the local ABC affiliate.
A Central Florida Christian Academy spokesman informed the Sentinel that Gordon passed a background check, and there was “no indication” he could be involved in such a scenario. The school’s football team finished 7-3 this past season.
