Football roundup: Cherry Creek beats Fossil Ridge

The Fossil Ridge High School football team proved no match for mighty Cherry Creek, as the No. 10 Bruins beat visiting Fossil Ridge 42-7 on Friday night.

It was the first-ever matchup between these schools, who were playing in their Mount Elbert Conference openers.

Cherry Creek (3-3, 1-0) jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and led 35-7 at halftime. The SaberCats (4-2, 0-1) scored in the second quarter, as Chase Mason returned an interception for a touchdown.

Fossil Ridge is on the road again next week, playing at Prairie View.
