Two first quarter turnovers proved costly for the Rocky Mountain High School football team Friday night, as the Lobos lost to Columbine 43-6. 

Columbine’s Andrew Arterburn returned an interception 18 yards for a touchdown, and teammate Russell Cruz scooped up a fumble and ran 51 yards for another score, resulting in a 28-0 lead in the first quarter.

Rocky Mountain quarterback Tyler Hyland scored Rocky Mountain’s (0-1) lone touchdown, a 32-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Lobos play crosstown foe Fossil Ridge next Thursday.

RESURRECTION CHRISTIAN 27, FAITH CHRISTIAN 24, OT — Resurrection Christian scored a touchdown in overtime to escape with the narrow win.

Elijah Durett of Faith Christian scored a 60-yard touchdown with 57 seconds remaining in regulation, and the Eagles converted the two-point conversion to tie the game at 21. Resurrection Christian’s missed field goal sent the game to overtime. Faith Christian scored a field goal on its possession in overtime.

Resurrection Christian (2-0) plays at Platte Valley Sept. 17.
