The Fort Collins High School football team team surrendered 28 unanswered points and fell on the road 42-28 to Monarch on Friday night.
The Lambkins (2-7, 1-3 Northern) struck first, taking a 7-0 lead in the early stages of the game before Monarch got on the board but failed the extra point try to make it 7-6. The Coyotes then scored again following an interception, this time converting the two-point conversion to take a 14-7 lead.
Early in the second quarter, Fort Collins deadlocked the score at 14, but this would be as close as they would get. Monarch proceeded to score two more touchdowns in the second period to enter halftime ahead 28-14. The Coyotes tacked on two more scores in the second half to complete a run of 28 unanswered points.
Fort Collins has now lost three games in a row and will conclude the regular season next week against Windsor.
