Cathy Self-Morgan, who led Duncanville (Texas) to the Super 25 girls basketball national championship last season, is stepping down as the school’s athletic director, a move that will allow her to remain coach.
Self-Morgan told The Dallas Morning News that the school district needs a full-time athletic director who can fulfill other commitments during the time when she is coaching.
“I think the district is in a really good position,” she told the newspaper, adding she will remain in the position until a successor is found. “It’s going to be an easy transition for the next person to step in, and I will support that person.”
Duncanville went 39-0 last season and have won state titles in 2003, 2012, 2013 and last season. The American Family Insurance ALL-USA Coach of the Year in 2013, she has won 1,061 games in 38 seasons. She added athletic director duties in 2010.
