No-Hitter is Foley's fifth of the season

The University of Indianapolis’ all-time leader in wins, strikeouts, and innings notched another impressive statistic in her personal record book on Friday afternoon.

Former Assumption High School pitcher and current Greyhound senior Morgan Foley threw a no-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Truman State in the second game of the GLVC Championship Tournament held in East Peoria, Ill. Foley pitched a complete-game with 12 strikeouts, one walk, and of course no hits allowed. The win improved Foley’s record this season to 37-2, good for third place in all of Division II softball.

The performance was also Foley’s fifth no-hitter of the season and second in her last three outings.

Coming into this weekend, Foley was in first place in Division II with 3.1 hits allowed per seven innings, first place in strikeouts per seven innings with 13.3, second place in strikeouts with 428, and sixth place in earned run average with a 0.77.

Foley, a three-time All-America honoree, leads UIndy in wins with 137, strikeouts with 1,614, and innings pitched with 995. Foley was named Division II Pitcher of the Year after the 2014 season by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

As a high school athlete, Foley led Assumption to district titles as a junior and a senior, and in her final season with the Rockets, she was named First-Team All-State and Seventh Region Player of the Year.
