HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A West Hall High School (Oakwood, Ga.) basketball coach has been dismissed after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a female student.
According to a news release from Hall County Schools, Zac Swansey has been released from his position as head boys basketball coach and online learning teacher.
The investigation began after rumors surfaced at the school about a relationship between Swansey and a current female student.
Swansey was a former basketball player at the University of Georgia. He is best known for making a game-winning shot against the Kentucky in the SEC tournament in 2008. That game had been postponed after a tornado passed through downtown Atlanta and damaged the Georgia Dome. Swansey later transferred to Tennessee Tech.
Swansey had been in the position at the school for a year. Before that, he was an assistant coach and staff member at Johnson High for two years, the release said.
The matter has been turned over to local law enforcement. Deputy Nicole Bailes of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said their office would have no comment until a full investigation was complete.
