Two weeks after Rodney Scott was initially arrested on disturbing child sex charges, 55 similar counts have been brought against the former assistant basketball coach at Pine Forest High School, making him one of the most dangerous sexual deviants to serve in scholastic athletics.
As reported by NBC affiliate WRAL, Scott now faces 11 counts of statutory sex offense, 11 counts of sexual activity by a substitute parent, 11 counts of indecent liberties with a child, 11 counts of child abuse by sexual act and 11 accounts of crimes against nature. When added to 10 charges that had already been lodged against him, Scott now faces a total of 65 serious child sex charges. The new counts against Scott were lodged following additional information related to incidents that allegedly occurred between March and December 2014.
In concert with the new charges, he is now being held on an enormous bail fee of $17.3 million, up from the initial $800,000 fee that had been instituted.
As with prior charges, Scott’s role as a foster parent and hands-on youth basketball coach may have contributed to the access that he was given to perpetrate the new charges against him. He will now remain behind bars until he eventually stands trial, currently at a date to be determined.
