The Fossil Ridge High School boys swimming team won the Keith Wiedeman Invitational in Greeley by 181 points on Saturday.
The SaberCats scored 480 points among the 11-team field at Greeley West High School, finishing well ahead of the runner-up and host Spartans (299 points).
Craig Heimark won two individual events for the SaberCats and swam on two of their winning relay teams. He claimed the 200 free in 1 minute, 50.18 seconds and took the 100 free in 48.85 seconds. Teammate Kris Malinin also captured an individual victory in the 50 free in 22.89.
Heimark, Xander Johnson, Mason Fine and Jack Rhoda made up the 200 free relay team, winning in 1:32.65. Richard Dauksher then joined forces with Heimark, Fine and Malinin on the winning 400 free relay team, clocking 3:16.74.
Fort Collins finished fourth as a team with 255 points.
Brendon Pease led the Lambkins with an individual victory in the 200 IM in 2:05.65, while Lucius Gao had a second-place finish in the 100 back in 57.29.
Rocky Mountain finished 12 points behind Fort Collins (243) for fifth place.
Kyle Sherman was the Lobos’ highest-placing individual, taking second in the 100 free in 50.37. Rocky Mountain also had third-place finishes from Jared Wright in the 200 IM (2:13.74) and Jack Miller in the 100 fly (56.47).
Windsor scored 179 points to place six overall and first among Class 4A teams.
The Wizards posted five state-qualifying performances, led by the 200 freestyle relay team of Colby Horton, Matt Fries, Jeff Borrett and Garrett Ludwick, who took fourth in 1:40.48.
Poudre finished eighth overall with 89 points. The Impalas’ highest-placing individual was Gabe Rabold, who was third in the 500 free in 5:20.25.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN 17, FLORENCE (Ala.) 5 — The Lobos picked up their first win of the season in their final game at the National High School Invitational at USA baseball complex in Cary, North Carolina.
Rocky Mountain scored 10 runs in the first inning to take early control. Jadon Uhrich had two hits and four RBIs, while Kalen Hammer, John Sorenson, Austin Alarid and Chris Diehl contributed two RBIs each.
The Lobos are ranked No. 4 in 5A in this week’s Associated Press media poll and improve to 1-3 on the season.
LIBERTY COMMON 3, STERLING 1 — Olivia Bachelet put past two goals for the Eagles as they won a 3A top-10 match on the road.
Sam Tsiouvaras added one goal and Bri Simpson had an assist to help Liberty Common, which is ranked No. 6 in 3A in this week’s CHSAAnow.com poll, past No. 9 Sterling.
Anne Dutton recorded 15 saves in net as the Eagles improved to 3-0 on the season with a 2-0 record in Region 4 play.
