Christian Foster had a night to remember.
After scoring a double hat-trick and an extra goal to boot, Foster became Bullitt East High School’s all-time leading scorer, taking her career goal tally to 134. Foster came into tonight’s 9-3 victory for the Chargers over Spencer Co. tied for the all-time lead with Lexi Higganbotham at 126 goals, and Foster quickly obliterated the old record.
Foster, who has committed to play at Eastern Kentucky next season, now has put together two stellar games to open the season, following a six-goal performance in a 10-0 win over Pleasure Ridge Park on Monday.
“She’s just a scoring threat any time she touches the ball,” Bullitt East head coach Steve Gentry said. “She can create her own shot and whenever you’ve got a scorer like that on your team, you’re always in the game. She takes a lot of pressure off our other players too. Our previous record holder was an all-state scorer and for Christian to break that so early in the season, she’s just going to pile it up. She’s been a great player for four years.
“She’s quick, she’s got good foot skills so she can get herself open, she can beat one-on-one or two defenders, so that’s her main ability, to control the ball, beat somebody and find her shot. She’s a great target player. She plays so hard, you don’t score that many goals if you aren’t driven.
Foster scored 59 goals last season as a junior, tied for most in the state, only 23 goals as a sophomore after missing three weeks with an ankle injury and 39 goals as a freshman.
