The Gatorade State Boys Basketball Players of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 fall season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Jordan Allen
School: Dover (Del.)
Weight: 195 pounds
Athletic achievement: He averaged 20 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 54.5 percent from inside the arc this past season, leading the Senators (16-4) to the second round of the state tournament. A First Team All-Conference selection, Allen surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his prep career earlier this season.
Academic excellence: Allen has maintained a B average.
Exemplary character: A standout varsity football player, he has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics and as a mentor for children with special needs.
“Over the years, Jordan Allen has just continued to improve his game,” said Caesar Rodney high head coach Freeman Williams. “He is a tremendous scorer and competitor and he is arguably the best shooter in our state.”
THE FUTURE: Allen has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at New Jersey’s Rider University this fall.
