Hawaii Boys Track & Field AOY: Anthony Kahoohanohano-Davis


The Gatorade State Boys Track & Field Athletes of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Anthony Kahoohanohano-Davis


School: Baldwin (Wailuku, Hawaii)
Grade: Senior
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 185 pounds

Athletic achievement: He won three individual titles, set two state records and anchored a victorious relay at the state championship meet this past season. Kahoohanohano-Davis soared a record 24 feet, 10 inches to win the long jump, broke the previous triple-jump mark with an effort of 49-10.75 and captured the high jump with a clearance of 6-8. He also helped the 4×100 relay quartet capture gold and finished third in the 110-meter high hurdles.

Academic excellence: Kahoohanohano-Davis has maintained a B average.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally as a member of the Baldwin High Hawaiian Club, which performs at numerous community events.


“His hard work and dedication have placed him exactly where he should be, as one of Maui’s most talented track and field athletes in decades,” said Baldwin coach Ardis Anguay. “He’s just an outstanding student-athlete and his humbleness makes him an even better person.”

THE FUTURE: Kahoohanohano-Davis remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
