School: Linn-Mar (Marion, Iowa)
Position: Point guard
Weight: 170 pounds
Athletic achievement: He averaged 25.8 and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 94 percent from the free throw line this past season, leading the Lions (17-6) to the Class 4A sub-state final. A First Team All-Conference selection, Bohannon led all of Class 4A with 593 points this winter and poured in 44 points during his team’s season-ending playoff loss to Cedar Falls.
Academic excellence: Bohannon has maintained a 3.25 GPA.
Exemplary character: An avid golfer, he had volunteered at his school on behalf of Students Opposed to Drugs and Alcohol (SODA) and Teens Reaching Youth (TRY).
“Jordan Bohannon is a first-class player and person,” said Ryan Luersmann, head coach at Xavier High. “He carried his team this past season and had some amazing individual performances along the way. He is probably the most skilled player in the state of Iowa this year. He handles the ball well, shoots it better than anyone in the state and is one of the fiercest competitors we have played.”
THE FUTURE: Bohannon has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at the University of Iowa this fall.
