Kansas Boys Track & Field AOY: Noah Green


The Gatorade State Boys Track & Field Athletes of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Noah Green


School: Blue Valley Southwest (Overland Park, Kan.)
Grade: Sophomore
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 165 pounds

Athletic achievement: He won the 110-meter high hurdles with a meet-record time of 14.02 seconds and took the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 37.14 at the Class 5A state meet this past season, leading the Timberwolves to second place as a team. Green also anchored the victorious 4×400 relay quartet at the state meet, and won the 110 hurdles at the Kansas Relays.

Academic excellence: Green has maintained a 4.0 GPA.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and the Marfan Foundation, which assists patients with Marfan syndrome.


“Noah is young, but he’s also experienced,” said Blue Valley Southwest coach Staci Lowe. “He works hard and he’s very mature for a sophomore. I think he’s got much bigger things to come.”

THE FUTURE: Green will begin his junior year of high school this fall.
